PRELIMINARY Product Datasheet Digi DialServ RJ-11 Phone Line Simulator Digi DialServ is an RJ-11 PSTN analog modem to RS-232 serial converter that seamlessly integrates with Digi cellular gateway products to provide communications across local or wide area networks to legacy devices with embedded modems. Central Office Ethernet Internet/ Frame Relay/ VPN Wireless Telco Network Features/Benefits • When used in conjunction with Digi cellular VPN gateways - Connects legacy devices with built-in modem to LAN/WAN - Converts RJ-11 PSTN analog modem to RS-232 serial for compatibility with Digi cellular gateways - Simulates Telco network and converts phone number to IP address - Built-in secure VPN connection IPsec, SSL even over public network - Dial-in/Dial-out support • Easy integration with Digi products, including Digi WAN, ConnectPort WAN VPN, and ConnectPort X cellular gateways Overview Digi DialServ CONSOLE AUX SISGTNRAELNGTH ACTIVE LINK C WAN VPN ETHLEINRKNEATCT RESETPWSTRATUS9-53205VmDACMAX Serial D DialServ RJ-11 Link Act Power 397tAo- 3101VA2D5C With Built-in Digi Cellular Gateway Analog Modem Digi DialServ is an RJ-11 phone line simulator that allows legacy devices with built-in modems to communicate across LANs/WANs. Using seamless integration to Digi cellular and Ethernet gateways, Digi DialServ provides secure IPsec or SSL VPN connections even over public networks. When used with Digi cellular gateways, Digi DialServ works with both dial-in and dial-out applications by simulating the Telco network and converting the requested phone number to an IP address. This allows remote devices with a built-in modem and an RJ-11 port to seamlessly communicate with a centralized location as if they were TCP/IP devices. Replacing old phone lines with IP communications allows customers to leverage higher availability, lower-cost networks, while potentially reducing monthly recurring costs related to phone bills. Also, devices using Digi DialServ over high speed IP networks often realize much faster transaction time versus slow dial-up modems. Digi DialServ requires virtually no configuration, making it very easy to deploy. Simply plug the RJ-11 cable from your existing device into a Digi DialServ, which is connected to a Digi cellular gateway via serial cable. Now incoming and outbound calls will be seamlessly converted to IP connections. Common applications for Digi DialServ include SCADA industrial automation, utilities, etc. , retail/point-of-sale and building automation/security, and infrastructure including devices such as ATMs, RTUs, kiosks, security panels, credit card/payment terminals and pay-at-the-pump controllers.
