Overview

The Digi Remote Power Manager Digi RPM provides an easy solution for controlled access and management of power delivery to attached devices. In conjunction with the Digi CM and PortServer TS 8/16, the Digi RPM provides real-time alerts and alarms for system reboots, changes to power usage, out of spec temperature readings and more. It is available in both eight-port 1U rack-mountable and ten-port 0U zero U rack-mountable versions.

One of the key features of the Digi RPM is the ability to remotely power on/off devices plugged into to one or more of its outlets, including devices with redundant power. When combined with Digi CM console servers, administrators can remotely reboot unresponsive servers or shut down unused devices, while also performing console management from a common web interface menu.

Additional management features include the ability to measure the combined electrical load of attached devices and to monitor the ambient temperature. Load management is crucial for ensuring uptime of key infrastructure components such as servers, routers and switches, by preventing electrical overloads due to poor power distribution. The Digi RPM also provides statistics on average/apparent power, RMS voltage/current, circuit breaker status and maximum current. Malfunction of a data center cooling system, for example, can result in high temperature conditions where servers and other network equipment can be disabled or even ruined. With an integrated Digi RPM and Digi CM solution, network administrators can be alerted to such conditions and safely shut down critical equipment until the cooling system is repaired.
